Officials in Mexico City announced the discovery of a huge aquifer under the capital. The find was made 2,000 meters under a neighborhood in the east of the city.

Ramon Aguirre, director of the local water system, said in a radio interview last week that it was “a deep aquifer of significant proportions, but it has not been quantified yet, and the next step is to carry out the necessary studies to see its real potential for sustainable extraction.”
