World Bank Lends Philippines $275 Million USD for Wastewater Facilities

MANILA (Manila Standard (Philippines)) — The World Bank has approved a $275-million loan to finance the construction of wastewater treatment facilities in several catchment areas of Metro Manila that will help improve Manila Bay’s water quality. The Metro Manila Wastewater Management Project will support investments of Metro Manila’s two water concessionaires, Manila Water Company Inc. and Maynilad Water Services Inc., in implementing a 25-year program for ensuring 100 percent wastewater collection and treatment.
