The Ukrainian government has developed a plan to modernize the country’s water supply systems, Minister of Regional Development, Building, Housing and Utility Services Anatoliy Bliznyuk told reporters on August 8. “The ministry has a distinct conception approved by the Cabinet, to which regions have agreed -- it is necessary to create a rational system of water supply and wastewater services in the country,” Bliznyuk said. He said new technologies allow water from sources previously considered unsuitable for drinking to be purified to meet quality standards. In some cities, this means water will not have to be transported from elsewhere, which will decrease production costs...
