China, Kazakhstan Prepare Agreement on Trans-Boundary Rivers

Kazakhstan and China developed an agreement on protection of water quality of trans-boundary rivers during an intergovernmental meeting in Beijing, Kazakh Minister of Environmental Protection Nurgali Ashimov told Kazakhstan's Parliament in late June. The two sides will meet again at the end of August to discuss the draft, he said. Ashimov said "a special meeting between the governments of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China took place in Beijing on May 26-28 at the level of deputy ministers of nature protection administrations of both countries to discuss a draft of the agreement on protection of trans-boundary rivers water quality...
