The Istanbul Ministerial Statement, a non-binding agreement arrived at by 150 countries at the 5th World Water Forum, which concluded on March 22 in the Turkish capital, called for prioritizing water and sanitation in national development plans and strategies while promoting more effective use of financial resources available from several sources.
