Tajik President Pushes Water as Priority

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon stressed the necessity of mitigation measures and adaptation to global climate change during a statement at the World Water Forum in Turkey last week. "The water issue must always remain the priority - in both national and international agenda," Rakhmon said. The Tajik President pointed out the key role of political leaders, who might attach special importance to water issues, especially in light of the ongoing global economic crisis.
