The world's sanitation is a time bomb that has started ticking, according to Ger Bergkamp, general director of the World Water Council. "We should try to find, depending on the country, different solutions than the ones we have already used and seen don't work. We still do not have a clear vision about what we have to do in this regard, what to do with the wastes and wastewater which comes from households that do not have sanitation," Bergkamp said at the World Water Forum in the Turkish city of Istanbul last week.
