International environment NGO WWF has called the Riachuelo River in Buenos Aires an “open sewer,” in a new report released during World Water Week in Stockholm.

According to the report, “Big Cities, Big Water, Big Challenges,” the waters of the river are contaminated with lead, zinc and chromium in excess of legal limits.
