CAIRO, Egypt

The city of Marsa Alam, in eastern Egypt, is building a new 3,000-cubic-meter-per-day desalination plant.

It will be the tenth such plant built in Egypt’s Red Sea governorate, which depends mainly on desalinated water.

City water officials said this month that they had issued a tender to construct the seawater intake for the plant.
