USAID to Build Three Desalination Plants in Central Sinai

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Egypt’s North Sinai governorate earlier this month signed a memorandum of understanding for construction, operation and hand-over of three desalination plants in Central Sinai. The MoU, signed under the LIFE Sinai program, was signed by Gaber al Arabi, secretary-general of North Sinai governorate, and Gregory Olsen of USAID Egypt. The three plants, located in al Meswatiya, al Monbateh and Bir Beda, will start operation in late July and August to produce up to 600 cubic meters of potable water per day.
