  • Qatar is widely known as a major supplier of natural gas, but the country has had to start looking to renewable energy sources for a simple reason – it needs to be able to provide more of its water resources to the agricultural sector, Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, Chairman Qatar National Food Security Program, told a ministerial panel, "Renewable Energy Policy Evolution in Economically Challenging Times," at the International Water Summit on January 15.

  • Ecuacorriente SA (ECSA), an Ecuadorian subsidiary of China's CRCC-Tongguan Investment, has signed a contract with the country’s Ministry of Production and disbursed an initial $40 million USD investment for the $2 billion USD Mirador copper mining project.
