Can Yemen Sustain a Nuclear Program?

— Yemeni President AN Abdullah Saleh has announced his country, one of the poorest in the world, plans to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Yemen is looking to harness nuclear power to generate electricity and to desalinate sea water in order to meet the needs of its growing urban population. It also hopes to boost the country's tiny industrial base, as well as expand its energy resources in light of Yemen's declining oil production.
