Ethiopia: Water Company Turns to Private Wells

— The Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority is negotiating with companies that own private wells to expand its water supply delivery system. The authority is trying to alleviate chronic water shortages in the capital. Only around half the city's residents have access to clean water. There are more than 200 wells in Addis Ababa, according to the water and sewerage authority. The authority has approached 23 companies that own deep water wells, among them Matador-Addis Tyre, Addis Ababa Abattoirs Enterprise, the Addis Ababa branch of Mugher Cement Factory, Elfora Agro Industry, Akaki Steel Products Factory and Kaliti Food Complex...
