— Libyan oficials have announced
plans to tender the contracts
for two independent water and
power projects (IWPPs).
Analysts predicted that international interest would be significant
as it is the first time that Tripoli will
seek private investment to fund
major infrastructure projects.
Libyan officials told the press that
they expect the government to tender
the two IWPPs around June 2008.
German company Fichtner has
been awarded a contract to assess
and study the viability of several
possible IWPPs, sources said.
The study is said to be completed, although results have not
been presented to the public...
