Libya Reviews Sirte Desalination Plans

— Libyan officials are reviewing the planned Sirte desalination plant project in light of increased costs. According to officials of the General Electricity Company of Libya (Gecol), the national utility has stepped its efforts to fast track the review of plans for the 40,000 cubic meters per day desalination plant at Sirte. Some Libyan advisors expected that the project could be scrapped totally due to cost overruns. Increased demand for labor and resources resulted in an exponential cost increase over the last year, not only in the oil and gas sector, but increasingly in the power and water sectors, too...
