Marafiq Plans Yanbu II IWPP

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia

- Saudi Arabia is looking into a second major water and power project at Yanbu, according to officials. The Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail & Yanbu (Marafiq)said it is planning a second independent water and power project (IWPP) in the Red Sea coastal city. The plant will have a power generation capacity of around 1,500 to 2,000 megawatts, while the desalination plant would produce between 150,000 and 600,000 cubic meters of water per day, according to Marafiq CAO Thamer al Sharhan.
