RFP Expected for Yanbu IWPP

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia

— The Power & Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (Marafiq) is contemplating a date to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for its latest project, the Yanbu independent water and power project (IWPP). Officials said there is a large group of interested parties, both national and international, that have been lining up to show their initial interest in participation. Marafiq is expected to issue a new RFP in the next two to six weeks. Marafiq's general manager, Zaid Abdulrahman al Buti, has said more than 20 companies are interested in the project, according to local reports. Saudi Oger, Acwa Power Projects, Arabian Bemco Contracting, International Power, Marubeni Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation and Malakoff Berhad are expected to participate...
