— Plastics manufacturer Borouge plans to increase
its capacity to produce polyolefins
(polyethylene and polypropylene) by
8 percent by the end of next year.
That will bring the Abu Dhabi-based
company's production capacity to
620,000 tons. Plastic pellets manufactured by Borouge are used in the
infrastructure industry for, among
other things, water pipe applications.
Borouge will shut down production for an unspecified period
later this year when construction
starts on the Borouge II plant.
The new cracker plant will have
a capacity of approximately 1.5
million tons per year; Borouge
says that makes it the world's
largest gas cracker...
