UAE Ministry of Energy Announces New Plans

— The UAE Ministry of Energy has announced its 2008-2010 strategic plan, consisting of 16 key initiatives and 25 supplementary initiatives, including a project to develop a comprehensive database on water resources. The ministry will review the Gulf Cooperation Council General Secretariat's study on water cooperation. On the international level, it intends to be actively involved in major global forums on energy issues, especially the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol. The Federal Water and Electricity Authority FWEA said on its website that the ministry will prepare geological and geo-physical maps and reports covering an area of 68,500 square kilometers...
