Uganda: 66 Percent of Kampala Residents Use Pit Latrines

KAMPALA, Uganda

— Ninety-two percent of Kampala resident do not have toilets connected to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation's sewer system, according to a recent survey by the Kampala Ecological Sanitation project and the Kampala City Council.

Most of the residents — 66 percent — use pit latrines, and dispose of the human waste improperly, according to project manager Francis Damulira.
