Weeds Affecting Water Quality in Tanzania's Pangani River Basin

Tanzania, DODOMA

— Weeds including typha domingensis (a type of cat-tail) and papyrus species are being blamed for the decreased water quality and reduced water runoff in the Pangani River Basin in Tanzania's Tanga region.

The weeds are also reported to be responsible for increasing siltation and shrinking fisheries in the Pangani River.
