Nestle Faces Continuing Fight Over Michigan Water Extraction Permission
Nestle has been bottling spring water outside of Grand Rapids for almost 20 years. Today, the company pumps nearly 360,000 gallons a day from this one well in the town of Evart, and now the state of Michigan approved a new permit that would allow them to nearly double it. The permit cost $200 a year.

Nestle is pumping out 400 gallons of water from the Great Lakes each minute, and the state is only charging $200 per year. Nestle Told To Review Impact On Michigan Wetlands
Michigan environmental regulators have told a bottled water company to re-evaluate how its proposal to withdraw 210 million gallons of water annually from the state would impact local wetlands, streams and natural springs. MLive reports the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality requested more information from Nestle Waters North America in June about groundwater replenishment around the company's White Pine Springs well northwest of Evart.
