Pakistan: World Bank May Cancel $38 Million USD Indus River Loan
The World Bank has warned of cancelling its soft loan of $38 million to support the management and development of water resources in the Indus River, after finding little progress on the project since its approval in 2008. The mid-term review of the project has been planned to be undertaken in June this year, and if this review does not find significant improvement in implementation process and disbursement of project funds, partial or even full cancellation of the credit will need to be considered, to enable these funds to be more usefully deployed within Pakistan, a report of the bank said.

Pakistan Water Minister Calls For "War-footing" To Resolve Water Scarcity

$100 Million USD From ADB For Balochistan Water Projects
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on September 3 approved a $100 Million USD loan to address chronic water shortages and increase earnings on farms in Balochistan. Among the infrastructure that will be upgraded or built for the project is a dam able to hold 36 million cubic meters of water, 276 kilometers of irrigation channels and drainage canals, and facilities that will make it easier for people, especially women, to access water for domestic use, the statement read.
