The SAFER Exploration & Production Operations Company (SEPOC), which owns the derelict Safer oil tanker that is anchored off Hodeidah’s coastline, confirmed the need to discharge the oil on board the rundown vessel before an environmental catastrophe takes place. UNICEF: Children in War Torn Countries Have Right to Safe Water
According to UNICEF, more than 180 million people are cut off from water in countries of conflict including Yemen, Syria and Nigeria. Generally, inhabitants of these countries are four times more likely to lack safe water than people in other countries. In such countries, UNICEF reports that water sources are either contaminated, in disrepair, or even deliberately destroyed as an act of war.

New Saudi Prince Orders Cholera Aid to Yemen
Saudi’s new Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who recently replaced his cousin as next in line to the throne, ordered a $67 million donation. Ironically, Saudi Arabia has contributed to the instability – and by extension the cholera outbreak – in Yemen as part of the Arab coalition participating in the military offensive.

Vaccines for Yemen as Cholera Death Toll Mounts
The World Health Organization (WHO) and some major partners have agreed to send 1 million doses of cholera vaccine to Yemen to help stanch a spiraling and increasingly deadly outbreak. Such a shipment and would amount to about half of the usual world stockpile. The WHO says that in just over two months, a cholera outbreak has taken over 1,100 lives and the caseload is rising, with peak levels unpredictable.

Emirates Red Crescent Builds Wells in Yemen
Construction on five water wells being built by the Emirates Red Crescent in Yemen’s Al Mukalla governorate started on Monday. The project is part of the organisation’s efforts to provide clean water to Yemenis and support infrastructure in the Hadramaut coastal region and will benefit more than 200,000 people.
