Asia-Pacific Water Forum to Hold First Summit

BEIJING, TOKYO, China, Japan

— The first Asia-Pacific Water Summit will bring together high-level political officials to discuss water supply, sanitation, water-related disaster prevention and pollution - issues that have technical solutions but lack the strong political will required to tackle them. "National governments have been too insensitive to the need to develop their water resource management systems," said Former Prime Minister of Japan Yoshiro Mori (President, Asia-Pacific Water Forum), at the Second Steering Committee meeting of the First Asia-Pacific Water Summit in Tokyo in August.
