Three Gorges Dam to Displace Another 4 Million

— In an escalation of the controversy surrounding the future of China's Three Gorges' Dam, the Chongqing local government announced this week it would move another 4 million people from the reservoir's environs over the next 10 to 15 years. Within weeks of China admitting that its biggest civil engineering project could turn into an evironmental disaster, it also announced it was necessary to move more than three times the number — 1.2 million — already relocated during its construction and the flooding of the reservoir. It means the Three Gorges Dam continues to attract attention — and concern even a year after its completion...
