— Recent floods have seriously
damaged irrigation infrastructure
in Thua Thien-Hue province.
The province has estimated
initial losses from flooding at
$71.8 million USD, with $47.5
million USD in damage to the
transport and irrigation sectors.
Many irrigation structures, including
canals, reservoirs and pumping
stations, have been severely
damaged. Entire water supply systems have been washed away,
according to local authorities.
In addition, several sections
of local river and sea dikes
have been eroded.
The Ministry of Defense has
given the country's central provinces
money from its Fund for the People
