Zambian Government Blacklists China-Geo Enginering

— Beijing-based China-Geo Engineering Corporation has been blacklisted by Zambian president Levy Mwanawasa for alleged fraudulent activities and failing to complete government water projects. The company has just completed construction of the Mushimbili dam in Kapiri Mposhi district, at a cost of $4 million USD. It is also constructing one of the biggest water projects in Zambia, the Kabwe Water and Sanitation project, which will supply water to districts in the country's central province. The company's blacklisting follows recommendations from the Auditor General's Office, which charges that the firm is among the companies that have fraudulently secured government contracts that they then abandoned after receiving payment...
