— For years the city of Al-Khosous, located about 30 kilometers from Cairo, has experienced serious sewer problems because of the huge amount of sewage coming out of the capital that passes through it.
A long sewage canal carrying about 2 million cubic meters of untreated wastewater from Cairo is further contaminated with waste from more than 400 pig farms located alongside it.
