Mexico and the United States are believed to have revived talks on the crucial issue of sharing the Colorado River water, a move that is being welcomed by parched communities in Nevada, Arizona and California.

The two sides also seek to enable the downstream states to build desalination plants in Mexico, which could provide water to both countries.
