$213 Million USD in Water Projects Approved for Makkah

Some $213 million USD in projects have been approved for the Makkah region, including water and sewage projects and strategic reservoir construction, according to the director of water in Makkah, Abdullah Hasnain. Hasnain said about $40 million USD would go toward water contracts in southern Makkah, and another $40 million USD would be used for a contract covering Al Bohairat, Al Omrah, Al Faiha and the old Jeddah Road. About $133 million USD was allocated for construction of strategic reservoirs in the city with a capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters, he said. The water directorate and the municipality are coordinating to select sites and conduct soil testing, before carrying out studies and preparing documents and inviting companies to submit tenders for the project, he said...
