Global warming will cause more frequent floods and droughts and a higher incidence of insect-borne disease in Ukraine, according to Khrystyna Rudnytska, climate change program coordinator at the National Ecological Center of Ukraine.
She said the western regions
of the country will suffer from
more frequent floods, while
the eastern and southern
regions will face droughts,
drinking water problems and
desertification.
Ukraine could also face a new
problem for the region — diseases such as malaria.

Veremiychyk added that the
mean temperature would
increase all over the Ukraine,
but that the consequences
of global warming would be
less severe than in some other
countries...
