CAIRO, Egypt

A new desalination plant was inaugurated in October in Egypt’s Matrouh governorate.

The plant, located in the city of Negeila, can produce 1,000 cubic meters per day of desalinated water, according to governorate officials.

The total cost of building the plant was $1.5 million USD. Construction was funded by the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation.
