MOSCOW, Russia

Over the weekend of 1 and 2 June an oil spill occurred at the construction site of a new shopping and leisure complex in the Moscow Region.  The oil contaminated a flood plain of the Moscow River, and due to high water levels the local vodokanal (water company) has had to issue a warning that the pollution may enter the freshwater system.
