Tana River Governor Opposes Kenyan Government Irrigation Plans

Hussein Dhadho, governor of Kenya’s Tana River County this weekend announced his opposition to the national government’s plans to irrigate 405,000 hectares of land in the county, saying the federal government had no mandate to control local resources and it should have consulted his office before beginning public announcements.
