Gambia Hold Drainage, Sanitation, Waste Management Workshop

A three-day workshop on drainage sanitation and waste management organised by the West Coast Disaster Management Agency in Brikama began Tuesday at the Gambia Red Cross Society conference hall in Brikama, West Coast Region. The workshop brought together 25 participants. In his opening remarks, Lamin Sanneh, the governor of West Coast Region, recalled that in 2010, heavy rainfall caused serious damage to communities in the region. As a result, he said, the government of The Gambia declared a state of emergency in certain areas of Brikama. Governor Sanneh explained that based on that situation the Gambia government and the European Union had an agreement to fund the construction of seven areas in the country that are prone to disaster...
