85 Percent of Nepal’s Traditional Drinking Water Systems Are Contaminated

KATHMANDU, Nepal

Around 85 percent of stone spouts -- one of the oldest types of drinking water supply systems in the Kathmandu Valley -- are supplying water contaminated with microbes and substances such as iron, manganese and ammonia, the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage (DWSS) said this week.
