Google Launches Crisis Response System in Colombia

BOGOTA, Colombia

Internet product and service developer Google has launched a new public alert system, Google Crisis Response, in Colombia.The tool will provide real-time online alerts in the country, which is one of those most affected by climate change. Colombia is the first country in Latin America to use the service.Colombia’s Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) said the system will monitor disasters including sudden increases in river levels, floods, mudslides and hurricanes, among others.It also shares recommendations for the general public to be able to anticipate to severe weather...
