Indigenous Dam Protesters Arrested in Malaysia

KUCHING, Malaysia

Eight indigenous protesters were arrested late last week for demonstrating against Malaysia’s controversial $1.3 billion USD sam project on the Murum River in Sarawak state. The protesters said the dam would displace them from their lands and cause environmental problems that would affect their way of life.
