In an effort to ease regional concerns about the environmental and social impacts of its dam-building on the Mekong River, Laotian government officials this week organized a visit to the site of the planned Don Sahong hydropower project.More than 100 people from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as MRC partners, non-governmental organizations and regional media took the Laotian government up on the offer.The site visit was arranged after the Laotian government informed neighboring countries of its intention to construct the 260-megawatt run-of-the-river dam through the intergovernmental Mekong River Commission (MRC)...
