The water crisis that millions of people worldwide are currently facing is rarely about absolute water scarcity, but rather is an issue of economic scarcity resulting in problems with distribution, according to Jerry Delli Priscoli, a senior adviser at the US Army Corp of Engineers’ (USACE) Institute for Water Resources.Speaking at the Water and Wastewater Policy Forum in Washington DC on November 20, Priscoli said most people in the world live in areas where rainfall only comes at one time of the year, which adds to the distribution problem.Investing in risk issues like extreme weather events also serves as an investment in development, he said...
