Arab Ministers Discuss Common Water Security Strategy

CAIRO, Egypt

The Arab Ministerial Water Council discussed adopting a common water security strategy during its meeting in Cairo last week.“The ministers discussed a number of issues, at the top of which was furthering cooperation in adopting a common water strategy,” according to current council chairman and Kuwaiti Minister of Electricity, Water and Public Works Abdel-Aziz al Ibrahim.The Arab water strategy urges countries to move toward desalination to increase available water. It calls on Arab governments to increase efficiency at water facilities and reduce water consumption.
