Global Water Demand to Increase 55 Percent by 2050: UN

TOKYO, Japan

Global demand for freshwater is expected to increase by about 55 percent by 2050, largely due to the increased demand in manufacturing (400 percent), thermal electricity generation (140 percent) and domestic use (130 percent), according to a new report from the United Nations.
