Russia to Help Kyrgyzstan Clean Up Nuclear Tailing Ponds

Russia intends to assist Kyrgyzstan in reclaiming Min-Kush and Kadji-Say tailing dumps within EurAsEC. The Ministry of Emergency Situations asks the Parliament to ratify the agreement between the governments of the two countries in the field of use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. The department notes that the problem of radiation safety in the areas, exposed for mining and processing of uranium, remains one of the most acute in Central Asia, including in Kyrgyzstan, for decades.
