Law Firm Agrees to Pay Chevron $15 Million in Ecuador Pollution Case

Patton Boggs has agreed to pay $15 million to Chevron and pull out of a case in which the law firm had sought to enforce a multibillion-dollar judgment against the giant oil company over decades-old contamination of Ecuador’s Amazon. The settlement, announced Wednesday, was a stunning concession for such a prominent law firm, and came after Chevron had taken the unusual action of turning to U.S
