Twelve Chinese Provinces Now Struggling With Severe Drought

Twelve of China's provinces are grappling with the effects of an ongong severe drought,  state-run media reportd over the weekend.Xinhua News Agency said 1.6 million people and 2.07 million head of overstock have been affected, and over 29 million hectare of crops are dying.Xinhua quoted Wang Hao of the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research as saying overconsumption on top of lack of precipitation may have worsened the problem.In Henan and Shaanxi provinces, which are among the hardest hit, some villagers have gone without water supply for three months.Shaanxi’s Sanyuan and Shangnan reservoirs have dried up...
