Pakistan Again Asks ADB to Fund Diamer-Bhasha Dam

Pakistani Finance Minister Ishaq Dar again asked for Asian Development Bank  (ADB) funding for the $14 billion USD, 4,500-megawatt Diamer-Bhasha dam project during talks with ADB President Takehiko Nakao in Islamabad this week.Nakao, who was making his first visit to Pakistan, noted that the dam was an important project, not just for energy but also for managing water resources, and said the bank “would help to the extent possible.”However, the ADB can only lend $1 billion USD to any country for development projects, Nakao said."We would like Pakistan to mobilize its domestic resources for development," he told Dar...
