Saltillo Activists Call for Suspension of Fracking Activities in Mexico’s Coahuila State

Activists from the Mexican city of Saltillo last week demanded that the Coahuila state government suspend all promotion and activity related to hydraulic fracturing (fracking) to extract natural gas.The demand came on the heels of the World Day Against Fracking on October 11th.Eleazar Cabello of the group "No to Fracking in Coahuila" called on the state government to cease all actions being proposed by the Clúster Minero-Petrolero, an association of businesses, academics and state and municipal authorities that seeks to promote unconventional hydrocarbon extraction.Cabello's group also called for a public debate on the issue...
