World Bank to Provide $11 Billion for Water, Hydropower, Flood Protection in Pakistan

The World Bank will provide some $11 billion USD to Pakistan over the next four years for water, irrigation and hydropower projects, including the Diamer-Bhasha and Dasu dams, as well as to support recovery efforts following the recent devastating floods in the Kashmir region.“The bank will assist Pakistan to overcome the situation caused by natural calamity,” World Bank President Jin Kong Kim said last week during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in New York.In September, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) also announced it would help Pakistan improve its flood systems...
