Angola Developing Water Stations That Operate Autonomously

10 Nov 2014 by Local Press Report

The Ministry of Energy and Water is developing programmes that enable the water treatment and distribution stations to operate independently without relying directly on conventional energy source, announced the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges. The minister said so last Friday at the end of the visit paid to the water treatment station of Bom Jesus, 44 km (Icolo and Bengo), and Calumbo Zango III (Viana). He said that besides the conventional energy source the water treatment and distribution stations will be supplied with alternative generators. João Baptista Borges reported that another measure to be implemented in this new era of EPAL will be the introduction of standards for water savings, as water and energy are scarce resources and have high production cost.
